We have a ranch style home with a wood basement. 3 years ago we did have water go down an outer wall from our sump pump when the hose got loose while we were gone on vacation. We had replaced baseboards, sheet rock and carpet in the downstairs bedroom that it affected. Fast forward, I have a son that has been very sick for the past year and medical can find nothing. We were pointed towards looking at our home so we just had a friend that does carpentry work start looking in our walls by my son's room (his bedroom is upstairs above the room that had water) In the basement bedroom he went all the way thru the sheet rock, enercept insulation blocks to the outer wall. He found that the wood wall is wet. Also took some pictures of space between the downstairs ceiling and upstairs floor and we can see there is something there.
My question is where do we go from here? Should that outer wood wall be wet? How big of a problem do we have?
It sounds like there could be a mould problem & water is keeping it alive. You need to have a professional check it out before it become any worse.
