I am redoing an old sunroom that has a half brick wall on the bottom. I am going to use siding on the top, and there is a 3 inch gap between the osb board and brick where they meet. What do builders typically use so that water does not penetrate this area?

Flashing is always used. It should go up the wall under the siding with a slight angle over and with a drip edge exceeding Over and down from the brick at least 1 in. This might need to be customized flashing with a break.
