I recently did an addition on my home and had the contractor install "Grayne" shake siding. He wants to charge me an additional 40 hrs. on top of what he has already charged me in our contract. I'm aware that there is a little more involved then regular traditional vinyl siding, but this is excessive.
I'm attaching a photo so you can see what was done. The addition is 8' back of addition. Side is 18'. 17' on the front and around the corner is 4'. The picture doesn't show the back but there is 60 x 40 window installed at the back.
I would appreciate getting a per sq. ft. price on just installation of siding only.
Typically new construction would be $1.25-$1.50per sq'
Renovations would run $1.50-$2.00 labour only.
I dont have enough information and there is always 2 sides to every story....that being said, unless there were major unforseen causes such as structural rot replacement...there is no way 40 man hours is justified for installation beyond the quoted price. This is why we provide quotes.....he had better be able to articulate EXACTLY where those hours were spent. At any rate, you are not obliged to pay any more than the written estimate.
