Hello I was wondering about the best way to level up a cabin that i just bought the foundation is just 10x10 posts. The cabin is sunk down on the back and front. Someone told me that he had to jack it up a few times because the ground is pretty soft. I was wondering what would be the best way to go? Would it be to jack up the sides which are down or if i lower it in the middle which is good. If I jacks up the sides or lower the middle which could cause more damage to the walls or ceilings?
I would suggest doing the levelling from the exterior ... lowest point. the inside "high point" is on stable ground and probably will not move any great deal. the areas (posts) that have moved, move due to frost and moisture from rain and melting snow. It us not uncommon. Jack up each area a little at a time (not one big lift) and make small adjustments. The reason is that the entire length or width of the building may not be flexible when you lift an edge so you need time for the beams, joists, to settle. Just take your time and it will work out.
