A typical 2 storey townhouse requires a 1 hour fire resistance rating to separate it from adjacent suites.

Typically a single sheet of 5/8" drywall for wood framed walls; nothing required in the basement if there is a typical 8" concrete wall. In the attic the 5/8" drywall should protect the trusses (including the truss extension into the soffits) with all joints taped.

Drawings should indicate ratings and locations of fire separations.
