My son just purchased a home in Orangeville and the floors need to be sanded and redone.
Before he goes out and attempts to do it himself I thought I would see what it costs to have a professional do it.
As well, what is the time span for sanding, staining, top coating and drying?
There are about 5 steps as well as the floors to be done.
Sincerely,
Robert R
Hi Robert
There are lots of variables when it comes to sanding down floors, many homes in Brampton from the 70's have the traditional 1-1/2 inch by 3/8 strip flooring, you need to pull a vent cover and determine if the floor has ever been sanded previously if so many companies will not refinish because there isn't the required thinkness.
A general price from a company such as Azores or Toronto hardwood is roughly $3-5.00 per sqft and goes up from there depending on finish and color.
Mark is correct in that there are a couple of variables pertaining to refinishing floors and the range is correct although in some cases the cost can be as low as $2.50 psf. Stairs will be extra.
