Labour for the simple door replacement should be between $100 - $150 much would depend on whether that was the only thing being done. There are costs going to and from the site which any tradesman must bear.

If it involved replacing the door jamb or the house has settled so as affecting the frame it could be a higher.

There is no such thing as a Fire Proof Door. Fire will go through all doors. Fire Doors are rated as per there construction. Typically Example : A 1 3/4" thick solid pine door with no window would give you about 3/4 's of a hour fire rating. A fire should not penetrate that door for 3/4's of a hour. Most but not all fire rated doors are Metal and if it is a actual Fire rated door It will have a metal plate attached to the hinge side edge of the door telling you it's fire rating & time 3/4 hr up to 3 hrs. Your least expensive fire rated door would probably start at about $ 200 and then go up to about $ 600 depending on what you require. Based on a perfect fit 34" x 80 "

The installation for all would probably be the same about $ 100 on top of the cost of the door. Door specialty dealers only sell these. However you can get them through HD or Rona but you will pay more for them.

We would say 2 hours because I'm assuming we would have to remove the old jams and install the new mental ones, also install all the hardware with is fire rated, drill the door for new handle, self closure arm and pins. Then install the handle, etc.

Every company is different and we have a 4 hour min. So, instead of thinking of the dollar amount you may want to find out if the installer is experienced with installing fire rated materials, because not many people ask this question unless the fire Marshall has ordered the work done.

Hello there,

Don't forget that you also have to change the drywall for a 5/8" double layer on both sides to give you the fire resistance you want. There is not a fire proof door they are all fire resistant.

Verify with your builder inspector and fire Marshall for compliance prior installation.

Costs will vary depending on amount of work, expect somewhere around $450 for labour.

Good luck!
