Good morning,
I'm looking at doing a job for my neighbor. What is the labour cost for the following?
1840 sq ft 2 story cedar sided house, cedar needs to be removed, house wrap applied, 1 inch 4X8 polystyrene installed, strapped, sided with either vinyl or engineered wood (CanExel). Cladding of 15 2x4 windows & 2 2x3 windows, 3 2x6 doors, 1 patio door which he thought should be free. Removal of all siding to dump ???
Windows in picture are incorrect measurements done by him!
Good day Brock
The cost of a job like that with average going rates would be in the range of:
1. Remove and dispose existing- $1.75-2.00 sq.foot - $3500-4000
2. Install building wrap and tuck tape -$0.35-0.40 sq.foot - $ 700-900
3. Install foam board- $ 0.75-1.00 sq.foot
4.Install strapping- $1000
5. Window caping- $1500-2000
6. install Canexel- $4.50- 5.50 sq.foot
Repair damaged wood $ 2.00 sq.foot
A rough idea would be around - $ 20,000 give or take.
Hope this helps!
Cody provided a good basic cost. The actual cost will vary depending on the degree of difficulty with angles, height, lay of the land and other such items. Plus, the type of siding makes a difference ( wood, vinyl, hardy board, metal). Then, look at the quality of the material as there often are good, better, best. I'd suggest doing a little more research as to what you really want for a finished product and as long as you have a ball park figure, you're good to go. Expect a few additional costs.
Enjoy.
Do your neighbor a favor, have him get a professional company with history, warranty, and most important knowledge, the neighbor thing just never works, we are forever fixing mistakes in this situation, you are spending good money on material, why not spend good money on having the install done right the first time, instead of the second time, but then again, it is neighbor's that keep us in business !
