Hi,

I have a basement window I would like to replace. Basement wall is double brick. Do I need to frame in a wooden opening or can it be installed and shimmed right in the masonry? Also if I frame it in, should/can I use pressure treated lumber here in the GTA?

Basement windows normally are shimmed right in the masonry or you can use a wood frame but this will make the window smaller it's your choice on the situation. Once the windows installed you need to put a wood frame on the in side and make sure you frame it with 1 inch to spare all the way around so you can trim it with a window build out and casing. Hope that helps you Jeff
