What is the size/coverage area of a proper backsplash?

My kitchen is L shaped. The double sinks and stove/range are perpendicular to one another.

If I want to install a proper back splash, do I cover 100% of the area behind the double sinks and also cover the 100% of the area behind the stove/range? (Base wise)

That is to install the back splash in the entire area (100%) in between the kitchen counter top and the kitchen cupboards. (Height wise)

If not, would it look 1/2 complete?

What is a proper area of coverage for the back splash?

I really need your help!

Thanks

There is no rule as to how much to cover, although most people will cove from the counter to the bottom of the. Abinets and above the sink and stove area. I have also seen kitchens with no backsplash or 1/2 way backsplash. It is a personal choice. Personally, I would cover everything visible.
