Recently started a tiled shower job using Schluter materials and such, I requested $1800 for material cost before I have started I have since been on the job for two days and the customer is a complete B***** and making my life a living hell, I have completed the waterproofing but I have no desire to continue with the tiling as I see future problems arising, my question is they paid me via cheque and Im worried that they will cancel the cheque before it clears if I were to stop doing the job and lose out on my own money for materials? The only proof I have of a contract is through email and texts, as my printer ran out of ink the night before and I couldn't get a signed copy before I started (go figure), I honestly don't even care that they pay me any labour the past two days I would just like my material cost reimbursed, any thoughts.
Did you deposir the cheque yet?
If no, go to his homebranch(address on a cheque) and certify it on a spot or cash it at any money mart.
You deserve to be paid for material you purchased plus the labor on the portion of the work you have already done.
A faster way to cash the customers cheque is to get it certified at their bank branch then deposit it in your Bank.
Wish you good luck.
Cash the check asap
Cut your ties before shit hits the fan
I had a customer do that to me before
So i yook down the wall and left only my cement on the ground
I lost out on that job
There will always be some customers that are more likeable or unlikeable than others. Some customers like to look over your shoulder all the time. This customer must have confidence in your ability otherwise they wouldnt hire you. I think you should try and continue to completion and work with them as best you can. If you are concerned about getting paid, maybe set up a schedule based on progress.I am sure they just want a job well done and thats why they selected you to do the work.
I never start a job unless the check has cleared. You could go to money mart but it will cost you 20% I believe or go to their home branch which the address is on the check. Certifiy it. About $10. I can't really comment on the customer or you whether you should continue to work or not. However I would advise you to do what you believe is fair and right. Only you would know that.
