Hi,
I am building a house and the design calls for two interior pocket doors that are fire rated up to BC building codes as it would separate a shared space and then a separate suite. Any ideas on where I could purchase these and what to look for?
I found some from England called Eclisse but they were from England and a touch pricey. I expect they will cost more but hopefully I can find some that aren't quite as much. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Krista,
I have pocket doors in my house but they aren't fire rated. I haven't heard of this being a part of the building code but maybe it's just B.C. I would suggest calling a local building inspector (should be in the phone book or on line) and ask ... first, if it is necessary and second where they would suggest for a supplier.
Wish I could provide more help but this is one of those odd requests.
Regards,
Mark
Hi Krista,
I am pretty sure you should just be looking at the fire rating of the door that goes into the pocket door. Typically a 45 minute rating or something along those lines.
If you are after more of a specialty product I deal with Allmar International out of Burnaby, B.C,
link as follows www.allmar.com or I would recommend Shanahans link as follows www.shanahans.com
Good luck, if you are still stuck give me a call.

Krista,
I have used McGregor Thompson Hardware in the past for fire rated doors and hardware, I would suggest contacting them, they have an office in Victoria.
