Where my countertop and backsplash meets should the grout be ON the counter top? Purchased a new home about 8 months ago (New build) and we are noticing a lot that we missed during our walk thrus

I generally use a transparent caulking, because surfaces generally shift slightly the grout on counter usually separated where as the caulking stays in place.

Another option is a color matched siliconized caulking which is available sanded or unsanded. Unfortunately it's not cheap and would be something you'd have to specify to your contractor. Many common colors can be found in your local tile store.
