Ok so I recently did a basement project for a customer involving drywall hanging and mudding and painting, after completing the drywall mudding and painting the customer complained about corners that were fine and a crack he noticed in one of the ceilings, long story short he asked me not to come back and would have to get someone else to come in and fix everything! Meanwhile I offered to fix anything he found for free and I even refunded him money because I'm a nice guy he also mentioned no concerns to me until after it was completed! So apparently he got someone to come in and according to him and the person he hired had to "fix" all the corners and ceiling in bathroom had to be taken down and re done which there was nothing wrong with them and the fact I offered to fix them for free and refunded him money with the fact he never mentioned any concerns until it was done!

Anyways now I have had a bad review because of them and wondering if they chose to go to court over this what would hold up? In my honest opinion I think they are doing this and getting someone to fix it in the hopes of taking me to court and having me pay for the extra work but I just don't see how that will hold given they never once mentioned concerns to me or gave me any opportunities to correct it let alone I refunded them money.

Sorry for the rant just frustrated And wondering your thoughts on this. Thanks.

*I have also never had a bad review or someone complain about work completed and have no criminal background.

Sorry to hear your situation. I'm not a lawyer I'm a licensed Carpenter general contractor and have been running business for 30 years. Every once in awhile we all get that client and nothing is good enough for or they're trying to do what they can to save money anyway they can, unfortunately. I'm hoping you took pictures of your finished work before he had this other company or guy too redo it. If not you should ask the client to show you pictures I'm sure they took some if it was cracked? Without pictures or documentation some sort of factual evidence I don't see how they could win in court. They would need to bring this other company into court with them to testify the work was done improperly. Good luck oh, it sounds to me like a whole bunch of he-said-she-said and without evidence they have nothing to go on. If you ask to go back and fix any imperfections they were unhappy with and they did not allow you to do so that is just wrong as well as you giving the money back. Good luck hope it works out for you

They did send pictures of someone who came in and fixed the "bad areas" which they said were every corner and countless spots on the walls which is complete BS I know that they weren't that bad and they never mentioned anything to me until after. Which I again offered to fix free of charge and also refunded money to them as well, but I know a company would not have came in to fix the small areas that he was complaining about they would want to make it worth there while and say everything's wrong imo even if he got the other company to testify how would it hold up for all I know it was damaged after I was done

listen relax my friend you are part of what they call a cheap customer scam, dont worry your head over this review make sure to put your spin on things on the review as well. we as contractors ran into these people many times and not a thing we can do to prevent them.

So in saying this dont let them rent space in your head for free and dont ever refund money back to anyone when you know the truth and your work is done properly you admit to guilt when you refund anyone.

It just bothers me that I offered to fix anything at no cost I even mentioned to them that if there was anything that needed to be fixed I can do it moving forward with the basement! There was a couple minor things that needed to be fixed which again I told them I would fix at no cost And then I refunded money because they bothered me and complained how much it was for the other guy to fix it so I just kind of washed my hands of the job and refunded them money! I offered to fix and refunded money it's not like I'm a guy who is taking the money and running! I'm just concerned if this goes to court what could happen it's very bothersome to me

My friend, first of all sorry to hear your situation. I don't know much more about your company contracting rules, draft agreement with clients, quality as well as experience in the industry. But, According to your information, you do agree that the job was not in accordance to the industry standard, since you have fully refunded the customer. So, now you must have an idea how this job negatively impacted your customer based on your experience. Keep in mind, a good contractor with vast experience in his field would never frustrate himself/herself if the job was done the right way. I personally take pictures of every job before and after each step of the job until the completion. Therefore, if you have contract agreement with a very clear terms and conditions and quality plan as will as pictures of the project. then you should be good and relax.

I never acknowledge is was done wrong by giving a refund I did that because I'm a good guy and wasn't going to be that guy who takes the money and run! I just wanted to be done with the whole situation so I refunded him thinking that would be good fine go pay someone else who will "fix" what is wrong done with it! By offering to fix it for free and not given any opportunities to correct anything and giving a refund I don't see anyway it will go to court and hold up in his favour then get me to pay for the other contractors work that's BS if that is the case why wouldn't everyone do that to get it for free.

Have these people threatened to go to court ? If not forget it & move on , you refunded the money so they had it to pay the other contractor . I just had a similar situation where the customer had a basement 1/2 finished said the other contractor had a family emergency over seas & had to leave then informed him he was going to have to stay . So I took the job on got part way through which he was according to my man he was very happy with the work . I asked for some partial payment 1st week which he paid , then second week he refused to advance another portion & got in a rage up in my face told me to get out of his house & not come back which I did gladly . My man was hurting financially so I told him he could stay if he wanted to but becareful to get paid . A week later he refused to pay my guy & through him out but still has some of his tools as he locked the door which the police will be going with my man to collect as he won't return calls. So my point is they are out there & want work done for nothing so forget it & move on .

Yeah that's what I'm saying, I refunded the money which they had to pay the other contractor so I cant see their review saying how I cost them so much money, when it was refunded essentially was like I wasn't there. Just irritates me to no end, and if they say oh were taking you to court, well guess were going to court just don't see how anything holds up in their favor, pictures or not. I offered to fix anything for free, they never mentioned any concerns to me, and I refunded money so be a waste of both our time and money to go to court, so we will see
