I am both excited and very nervous about my next project!
We have decided to ditch all our old furniture and go with new for our new home. I dont want it to look all wrong as we will be spending quite a bit, how should i be looking to get the design put together and feeling happy about it before i commit to spending!
One idea is to look through magazines, or online and get pictures of the furniture you like. Then take a piece of poster board, and put the pictures of the furniture on the poster board like you would have it set up in your home. This allows you to see how things will look together, and also allows you move things around as you like.
There are also a few different computer programs that allow you to design your own home with photos that you have uploaded and show it to you in 3D. I'll do some looking online, and see if I can find a few for you.
There's a lot to be said for hiring a professional. Even people with the best of taste can get overwhelmed. I don't think it would cost very much to get an interior designer, or even a professional stager to work with you. Most people know what they like and know what they want to "go for", a pro could pull it all together for you.
Find one piece (usually an accent item) and build around it. Add some shocks of color for interest and you're on your way to creating a pleasing, beautiful, expressive interior for you and your family
