Hi, I know this post is a little old but just in case you have not found anything, check out your local technical post secondary school.

I took my painting and decorating course at BCIT (which is in BC) but I am sure you have something similar in your area. After the first course semester you can apply for a painting job and have the company hire you on as an apprentice.

Each year you will go back to school for another semester until you have done your 4 years of school for your full ticket.

Another option is to contact the IUPAT (International Union of Painters and Allied Trades). Request to enroll as an apprentice.

Here in my area the fee to enroll for an apprentice is $150.
