should I nail pictures to dry wall?
Hello Afsha,
Yes, you can nail small light pictures directly on drywall using special angled nailing hooks, or medium weight pictures using appropriate anchors. U have to be very careful not to disturb the hole made for hanging - nail, or anchor has to be firmly inserted without any movements.
For hanging mirrors, and heavy objects you have to find studs behind drywall. Even now you have to be certain that hooks are deep enough in the stud in relation to the weight of the object.
Hi Afsha,
If you go to your neighbourhood home improvement store (Home Depot, Rona etc...), they should have an aisle that has hangers appropriate for hollow drywall. These hangers come in a variety of designs and for a variety of applications. You can get different hangers for different weights of items you wish to hang. Nails will work for very light pictures, but the picture hangers they sell are angled in a way to take the load and weight and transfer it towards the wall to help support the item being hung better.
Hope this helps,
