I have an old set of sold maple bedroom furniture that I am repainting a dark espresso colour. The cabinet pulls are made from the same wood as the furniture and are bulky looking.
I want to change them so that they have a sleeker and more modern look without over powering the the style of the furniture. The problem is that the holes are 2 1/2" centre to centre and I am having a terrible time trying to locate anything in that size and/or are reasonably priced as I need 22 handles.
Can you recommend some distributors that would be able to help me find something?
Hi Maya, sounds like a great project. You actually have a couple of options. Since you are painting the furniture, you can just fill the holes and paint over them, When you are done, you can put on any type of handle you like by just drilling new holes.
You could also find handles with a backing plate that would cover the existing holes and allow you to drill new ones.
A great source is Lee Valley - they would probably have 2 1/2" pulls as well. You can search their catalog on line. As you know, the pricing is going to depend on what you like.
Good Luck with it!

Thanks Jim for your reply. I will check out Lee Valley.
Yes your best option is to just fill and redrill. Again as stated since you are painting (don't forget your prep work) you can add any kind of pull you want!
