I have just purchased a house and wanted to do renovation to the half bathroom in my basement to upgrade to a full bathroom by putting in corner standing shower. But there is the electrical panel box located inside the half bathroom. My house is 1962 years old. Do I need to relocated the electrical panel because I know that the national electrical code said that no electrical panel should be in the bathroom, closet or under stairs but it is there previously? Or could I just box it up? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks! I live in Manitoba.
Hi Alex! Well sorry to say you are going to have to move that panel. Was very stupid to put an electrical panel in a bathroom. Now that you want to put a shower in there you have no choice. Water and electricity do not mix that is why we have the codes to help keep us safe. Your best bet is to have an eletrician take a look at that to find the legal and most cost effective way of moving that for you. Hope this helps.

thanks Brent. What would be the cost that I would be looking at to move the electrical panel a meter over with a qualify electrician?
