What brand of appliances are you most happy with?

With the many choices out there today, have you purchased a certain brand, and found yourself being happy with your decision?

I realize there are high end appliances (Sub Zero etc.) but are appliances such as the Kenmore Elite brand a solid performer?

What about LG, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Whirlpool, Frigidaire etc?

Thanks in advance...

Hello, As a owner of 5 homes I have purchased all the name brands and have discovered that it's not really the brand that is important but the company that has sold them to you. For the money I would go to Sears all the time. They carry all the name brands including there own and there service department is fantastic. But remember a $200.00 dishwasher at Sears will not be better than a $1,000.00 dishwasher at Home depot. You still get what you pay for.

Hi Dale and Tammy as a Certified Kitchen Designer and also 6 time home owner , what is important to look for in a fridge is quality of interior, are the shelves foam filled? Made of lexan plastic? are they easily accessible? Are the shelves sturdy? Anyone can make it look pretty on the outside but is it durable? Stoves, how deep is the bottom drawer, again how flimsy? Don't et price fool you? Look for cubic foot of cooking space, how heavy is the door? Push on the sides of the unit, is it going to buckle the first time you move it around? And yes I think Rene is right service is just as important as the product. ( I like Kitchen Aid myself) Good Luck and Good Design

Hi There,

I am posting as a consumer and not a contractor on this one. I strongly reccommend you DO NOT BUY Kitchen Aid!!!!!!!!!! In our first home we did our homework on each appliance and selected the best performer in each category and we were not sorry. With our second home we went with the top of the line Kitchen Aid Stainless Steel for everything. We questioned nothing and simply trusted the Kitchen Aid name and brand as most people do. Every single appliance is junk. The oven was a nightmare right from the start and even with extended warranties and approx 30 repair visits and part replacements it could never be repaired properly. Should have been replaced but it never happened(long story). Whirlpool was disgusting to deal with. I will never purchase another product from the Whirlpool family which is not easy to do I might add! My fridge/freezer - the drawers are so cheap they broke almost on delivery and are not warranty. My mothers sub-zero is 24 years old and in total perfection!!!! The dishwasher does not clean well. The over the range microwave does not heat well. Got so frustrated I sold my oven and bought a professional Fridgidare which works like a dream!!!! The fridge is next!!!!!
