I have painting and small repairs plus some upgrades what kind of contractor do I need?
Depending on the extent of repairs and what type of upgrade a general contractor is the better choice because they generally have experience dealing with multiple tasks on one project, although electrical repairs should be left to a professional electrical contractor.
My advice is that you contact a general contractor with knowledge in home repair.
Good luck.
It all depends on the upgrades required. A painting contractor is able to do plaster repairs and painting/ wall covering installation. If extensive upgrades of the same type are required perhaps you need two separate companies, or hire a general, but expect to pay for his expertise and project management.
If it is just painting and drywall repairs all you need is to hire a painter. Someone who does this full time is likely less expensive and quicker than general contractors. Although GC's are great for this too.
I would say you are better with a general contractor they are more experienced in all Imelda's and you save in the long as apprised to hire individuals for each and every job.
Check the company websites and information. The company websites give great ideas as to what they can and can not do. Most Contractors who have websites have that stated on their websites. Also check online searches on the companies if there is any complains. How long they been in business is a good sign to know they have been in business that long.
Cheers Good Luck in your search.

HI There,
I would advise you look into a reputable (BBB, licensed and insured) handyman service. These people are generally capable of a multitude of tasks around the home. Just make sure that this company has good references and you use only a licensed electrician and plumber where required
Good luck,
Keith.
I'd agree with Keith. From your post, it sounds small. Is it? If it is, getting one person in would be easier that 3 or 4.

Careful when hiring someone to do it all. Chances are they are a proffesional of none if the paint job is big enough for a painting contractorthen give it to him.
Always get three quotes first. Watch for the quality of work you are getting. Make a judgement call whether you think this contractor can do the other things you need done.
It is likely that your average contractor or home renovation company should be able to handle most basic repairs. Keep in mind that if there is electrical and/or plumbing involved aside from the basics you may need one or both of those particular tradesmen for those jobs. However, most of the basic repairs, changing lights or switches, changing toilets or sinks etc. your average renovation or handyman is usually quite capable to handle.
Good luck in your repairs.
