I installed new AC. Am i suppose to cover it with something during winter Why people cover the AC?
Thanks
It depends on your environment.
There should not be standing snow on or in the unit. This will cause premature maintenance and ware and tare.
Many people use their A/C systems in the winter as a heat pump.
I always tell people that it is a good idea to build a roof / shelter over their units to protect them. There should be no reduction in air flow with the method you choose.
You really don't have to, they are designed to be outside. But it doesn't hurt. The biggest benifit is it keeps the leaves from getting in, so you don't have to clean them out in the spring.
Hi
Another problems that people don't see right away is they leave it on vent, that means when its windy outside it will get inside by the A/C, I would recommend to at least add a plastic bag of any kind just to cut wind. and save on heating bills that's it.
Yes it is best to cover it to keep out the snow, rain and leaves from clogging up the vents
when it is not in use.
Hope this was helpful.
Good Luck
