I have a crack in the corner of my foundation and its open. Is their any danger of leakage in the house or can I plug it up with some caulking? Please advise.
Armand
I would highly recommend finding out the cause of the crack.
Depending on it's severity it could be caused by a cracked footing or deterioration if the soil/dirt beneath them.
Caulking may be a temporary fix but using mortar would be proper to determine if they are getting worse
Hi Armand, Kevin is right that caulking is only a short term emergency type of fix. Hydraulic cement would be better and may last a little longer. You definitely have to determine the source of the crack and deal with that before any permanent repairs will work. Your foundation is major building structure and it should be sound and water tight. You should post your requirements in the projects section so you can get some local contractors to take a look at your situation.
Good Luck,
