We have had issues with leaks from the ceiling in our living room (from the roof) and in our bathroom (from our dishwasher). We have managed to stop the leak in the living room but we are looking for someone to find and stop the leak in the bathroom and to fix the drywall in both rooms. Is there anyone who can recommend? What would be the expected cost for a repair like this?

First you should let it dry out for a week, then look for a taper to fix the leaky area, then he can prime and paint shouldn't cost more than $400.09

Don't let anyone talk you into replacing the Drywall air flow will dry out the insulation and the drywall.

Replacing drywall will be a lot more expansive.

Just call a Drywall company that repairs small jobs

Probably around 750 depends on damage.

Hi Michelle,

Sorry to hear about your water leaks. You will want to dry the area out as fast as possible to avoid any mold issues and further damage. Depending on how much water you are dealing with, you may need to have drying equipment setup; blowers, dehumidifier. Any competent handyman will be able to fix the drywall. It is difficult to give you an estimate without any pictures or knowing the square footage. My drywall repairs start at $300.00 and does not include painting. Drywall repairs can present some challenges if the drywall has been wet for too long. It can become crumbly and lose its integrity. Sometimes is easier to just replace the damaged drywall. Also, you should have the area inspected for possible mold.

As for the leak in the bathroom, if you are sure the leak is from the dishwasher I would also ask the handyman to check the dishwasher.

Hi Michelle,

It really all depends on the actual scope involved regarding costs.

Just because a job may "seem" small, it does not mean there isn't a lot of work involved, or should be very cheap.

I don't think you can find an accurate answer here. I think you're best off obtaining a few estimates as usual for a better cost reflection.

If drywall is removed / patched, you likely need to paint the entire ceiling in that area. At least to achieve a professional standard. This is just one variable.

Could be a $200 job or could be $2I....hard to say without a site visit.

Best of luck!

Hi you can't quote on leaks!...they can be hard to find and can be localized or far away from where they come out and then the drywall if not moldy and fixable can be done or then needs replacement of damaged areas..expect to pay "hourly" and at least from $500 for a total job or more depending on what and where leak is

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a big mess.

You can :

- Draw a square around the affected drywall

- Use a dry wall saw to cut out the areas

- With gypsum board plaster try to patch it

- Cover it with materials

Honestly, it's too complicated. And the best out there is to ask a fast, on time and budget effective professional handyman to come, discover the reason for leaking, with the best tools and materials, and clean up after finished.
