DESIGNING / RENOVATION FOR COMFORTABLE LIVING

We have a 4 bedroom house. The 4'th bedroom is very small. We need to renovate our 3 bathrooms and powder room. The plumbing in basement bathroom needs overhauling. The kitchen needs to be renovated. Carpets need to be changed and the whole house needs fresh painting.

How much cost am I looking into?

Is it financially feasible to add an office area in main level?

Thanks,

Shuchita

Shuchita,

It is all doable. But it is most important to manage the project(s) so your costs dont get out of control.

I would proceed as follows:

I would start by identifying your budget.

Then assign a dollar figure, based on the budget, to each task as you have listed.

Then you know how much money you have in order to get each job done.

Then you proceed very carefully treating each task as a mini project.

For example if you budgeted $15,000 on your kitchen, then that has to be managed very closely so that over runs don't affect your bathrooms, or your paint project.

This is how I would do it.

Hi Shucita,

Tom is correct, it could all be very doable. To add what Tom as offered it is important to determine what your budget is. Then, I would prioritize the work you like to have done and within each clearly identify what it is you would like to achieve. Then work to cost out what the project may actually cost. If you are not undertaking the work yourself, you can post the projects on line here to get advice and estimates.
