Driveway repairs - concrete or asphalt?

We need to repair parts of our driveway. Please see the picture. I am not sure what to use, concrete or asphalt.

How long does an asphalt job take? What about concrete? Does it make sense to slope the asphalt on the mutual driveway so that water flows away from the house - or are there better ways to resolve the problem?

Finally, perhaps it makes sense to fully redo everything. What to ask of the companies? My neighbors told me horror stories about redoing their driveways.

Any sensible advice is welcome.
