exterior door threshold covering

just moved, both double ext doors and metal door to garage have what appears is a plastic covering over the usual aluminum threshold. Appears it is held in place by edge inserted into a slot along outside bottom edge and again at main entrance threshold. question is how to remove this "covering". it does not appear to readily pop off/out of the track at bottom at least. Thanks to all.
