There are some cracks in the floor joists and i was wondering is that expensive repair and can it be done?

Joe,

Depending on the severity of the cracks and weather or not the floor is deflecting (sagging) Generally the fix should be fairly standard.

Hi Stewart here of Sct floorcoverings,Yes floor joists can be replaced,but it would be less expensive an faster to do what is known as "sistering the floor joistes" This means that you or your contractor would place a new joist alongside the old joist-Make sure the new joist is seated into or ontop of the foundation wall to make sure of proper load transfer to foundation.Please call me at 416-295-0906 if you have any questions,or email me at = stewart@sctfloorcoverings.com
