Hello once again. I've been looking into the adding heat control window film from home depot to my windows to help reduce heat and glare from my north west facing rooms/windows. I've read some pretty good reviews on these products but was wondering if i should buy the product and apply it myself or hire a company that specializes in this type of application. My main goal is to reduce the heat but i also want this to look professional without streaks, bubbles or pealing.

Does anyone have any experience with this that can suggest what is the best way to approach this; DIY or Hire a Pro?

Gerald,

First of all, you can do it yourself. It is actually pretty easy; make sure the windows are cleaned properly and that the film is the correct size. Take your time and you will be fine.

I'm not sure why you would put the film on the nborth side of the house; wouldn't it make more sense to do the windows on the south side where the sun is?

Having said all of the above, there are other variables to consider such as how well the walls are insulated, whether the walls on the outside of the house are brick, vinyl or aluminum siding, how energy efficient your windows (and casing) are, etc.

I hope this helps.
