The water heater flue going through the ceiling into the attic is in a large square shaft, wide open into the attic. What is the proper way of insulating this space? Can I use the mineral insulation (Rocksul) to stuff around the flue?

Thanks for your help.

Mineral wool insulation is usually used, however I would check with the manufacturer of the flue pipeing and the heater first, to see what they recomend and allow. Better safe than sorry.
