I have a 16' x 15' wood shed and have one wall that is 3/4 covered in mold. The base plate has completely deteriorated as has some of the particle board holding the aluminum siding up outside. Wondering what the best approach is to fixing this? Thanks for your help.
Hi,
It appears to me, that you could remove all affected wood that is rotten and deteriorated.
Remove as much of the affected area as possible without comprimising the structure.
You may have to remove and replace 1 stud at a time,, ensure you support any weight with teleposts to carry any load while you replace each stud,
you should ensure the area is clean of all mold, using a solution of ammonia and spray it liberally , then scrub and rinse removing all mold from bottom plate area ,,
You should replace all materials that have been affected, !!!!
be sure to wear sufficiant respairator and safey equipment before attempting to remove the moldy wood etc.
hope that helps
