Should I repair or replace refrigerator?

My refrigerator stopped running this morning. It was in perfect condition when I retired last night and when I woke up it was not working and all of the food was almost warm.

It is a GE bottom freezer and is about 8 years old. I don't know whether to get a repairman to give me an estimate or would I be wasting my money and should replace it.

Everyone seems to think that to-days appliances are mostly throw away products.

Professional diagnostic required. It can be a small job of relay or starter, or main board replacement.
