My sister is trying to sell her home and is having a hard time. It's been on the market now for 4 months with no serious offers yet. The house is located in Mississauga and in my opinion, a little bit out dated and cluttered inside. Can anyone refer a good home staging company that doesn't charge an arm and a leg to help her clean up and redecorate for a quick sale?
Hi John,
I know that some staging companies will work as consultants for sellers who are budget conscious. They can meet with you for an hour or two and give you suggestions--and you get to do all the heavy lifting and rearranging.
I've heard of that service before as well and it really is the best option if she's getting frustrated trying to get the house sold. A consultant and a weekend of work should be able to 'clean up' the house's appearance well enough. Good luck to her.
I would recommend a DIY style to save on costs. throw out all the clutter in the house, fixed minor poblems and apply a fresh coat of paint.
I would recommend sourcing out a credible staging professional on the RESA (Real Estate Staging Association) website. The professionals on this site are educated, experienced and talented property stagers.
All professional stagers will charge a fee for a consultation which lasts up to 2 hours and will customize a PLAN for a property that includes many recommendations which sellers can implement themselves at a low or virtually no cost.
All the tips you have received deal with the preparation part of getting a home ready for sale however the second part of the process is just as important - showcasing. A professional stager will ensure that each space has maximum, broad appeal by showcasing focal areas or architectural focal points and minimizing a home's weaknesses.
Warmly,

Hi,Stewart here of Sct Floorcoverings. I would Suggest the 15.3mm "high gloss Random Lenghths "Laminate flooring as part of your Homestaging plan. Low cost and Beautifull to Look at.
Clean up. Repaint neutral colours so it looks visually bigger and warmer. Fresh flowers at the entrance. Bake. Smells good. Dump the clutter in the garage and away from visible eyes. Remember first impression counts. Entrance, kitchen, living room, bedroom. Just the clean basics will help a lot.
Cheers.
