What is the going cost for a carpenter, per hour, with own tools/vehicle? I have heard of rate from $22 hr up to $50 an hour.

Just framing, nothing more. Needs to know structure and will do structural work.

The rate range is pretty correct, the biggest differance is if it's a union job or not. $50 seems high to me but $40 for a top notch guy and $20 for an apprentice working for a company, sure.

Going rate for a Good carpenter is $28 to $35 per hour.

For a Great carpenter $40 to $60 depending on skill and work required.

Keep in mind you will always get what you pay for so if you have a very detailed job that excellent skills are required on go with the higher per hour carpenter. We generally do not price per hour but if the the job were right we would be anywhere from $45 to $55 per hour.

Are you paying him hourly, or contract rate?

If he is paying his own insurance, workers compensation, CPP, EI, etc, then the rate is higher as opposed to you paying him as an employee.

You are looking between 20 and 50 dollars an hour depending on the quality of the carpenter. 60 is more a finishing guys rate than a framer.
