I'm in Edmonton. What is the approximate cost to have someone build a 15ft x 15ft uncovered deck, raised off the ground, with one set of stairs. I don't know if it needs to be attached to the house or can be freestanding - any advantages either way? Also, what would the prices be for composite and for cedar? One more thing - if I wanted the deck boards to go at an angle, how much does that add to the cost? In the picture the windows on the left will be replaced by sliding doors (someone else will do that). The deck would start just before the water meter on the left side of the house so the meter wouldn't need to be moved. Thanks.
Labour ... you're looking about $2500 plus material. Pressure treated is the least costly followed by cedar then composite. Composite can run $40 per board so that gives you an idea. angle require 12" joist spacing versus 16" for straight boards, but that is a minor cost difference. The angles require a few extra boards. Best suggestion is to go to a Home Depot, or similar store and they will do a free estimate.
