I recommend you calling a trusted Pro on your local area to get a firm quote. It does all depend on the ceiling Heights if the house is empty or not if the existing stipple has been painted excetera excetera. Do you want to have a knock-down re installed or a smooth finish

Depending on the type and composition of the texture on the ceiling, and, the type of paint which may have been used on it, and, the condition of the underlying drywall surface, a charge of around $5 per square foot removed / repaired would be pretty standard to bring it to an MPI level 5 standard, or, "paint ready."
