Hi, I am moving into a new place and the bathtub is old and dated.
I would like to remove it and either replace it with a new tub or a shower.
This bathtub is on the first floor of a 2 floor detached house. Pic of the bathroom attached.
Can you please let me know of the approx cost of removal as well as for installing either a new bathtub or a new shower room?
Also how long will the process typically take?
Hello , if the picture is correct the back side of the 5 foot tub is on an exterior wall and the flange is locked by the drywall the flows under the window and behind the toilet. to remove the existing tub would be easy because you could cut it out not to have to disturb the drywall under the window and behind the toilet. I would cut out the tub and zip saw out the tile and the drywall together for the cleanest removal only removing the 33 inches off the back wall so it would be easy to re drywall and re tile covering all the damage. this is the easiest way to save cost. doing it this way and most cost effective would only give you one option and the best to put in a 5 foot shower .just like the one you see at Costco that comes in a great kit with a 10 mm glass door kit for like 700.00 bucks. what a great deal. Home depot also has similar kits. easy placement re drywall with water board seal and tile 3 inches out from the shower base. This tub looks as if the tile is on the ceiling as well so the tile work is a little more.
Minimizing and thinking about the removal will save the day and the pocket book. This should be out sourced project around 5000.00 complete . Please reach out if you would like more information.

Hi Devi,
A lot of variables affect cost here. Tile surround? Acrylic? Type of valve & even the tub if you chose that route. Tubs can range from $250-$2k alone.
In MB...approximately $5k and one week for tile surround...
Best of luck.....
