Need to punch a hole in foundation wall to add exterior door & steps. What would be the price range on this job in the Toronto area? Also, what type of contractor do I contact?
Only looking for cost at this time.
Hi Rob,
It is almost impossible to give you price without checking existing condition. So many details to consider. What you should do is select few contractors that you fill you can work with, invite them to your house, to give you firm price without guessing game. Also they can tell you what exactly needs to be done. Most likely you will need sump pump and try to avoid underpinning there is no need to disturb existing footing.
Hi Rob
If you do a search on this site you will see that this has been discussed multiple times. From memory and my own research, a basic / simply installation would be about $10-15K.
Most concrete / foundation / basement contractors can do this work.

Hi,
I have to agree with the second response you received. My company has done about eight or nine new basement entrances over the years in the Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville areas prior to moving to the Niagara region.. I always sub out the concrete and forming work.
But access to the area for the new entrance, soil conditions, age of property ie the type of footing and foundation that exist all can make substantial differences in the price. The door you choose can run from 800.00 to 1700.00 depending on the quality and if it has side panels etc. If your basement is already finished the repair to the sub floor, framing etc will come into play.
You need an experienced firm to come out and have a look.
