I have a half bath 62 inches x 70 inches that I would like to change to 3/4 bath (shower) on the main floor for my father. It will involve opening up a wall for additional space to accommodate. I would want to replace toilet and put in a saller vanity.
What would be involved and what type of cost am I looking at.
Hello. This is about to cost around 7.000-9.000.
Pretty much impossible to quote on that info but I have done many similar in past. Expect min $15,000 to $20,000 for basic fixtures and all the work. I have done jobs where it could be $40,000 with luxury fixtures but if you ball park a $20,000 budget you will be good. You will have to have access underneath probably too, so expect extra costs to open and fix any existing materials in lower ceiling/walls if it is not open.
Hi Carlene.
I am mostly doing full bathroom renovations, but I have done a project similar to this where a front hall closet was appropriated for a walk-in shower. The closet had ductwork that needed to be relocated a few feet to accommodate a 34"X60" shower. There was no electrical or other mechanicals that need to be dealt with. There maybe some in your wall. The wall was reframed for the shower and Schluter waterproofing was installed to make the shower 100% waterproof. The cost to do your project would be around 13K-15K. Pictures always help in estimating the costs. Of course a site visit would be needed to give an exact quote.
