What would a rough estimate cost to have interior staircase with metal railing (railing+balisters) be converted into a wooden railing with wooden balisters?

Staircase is straight for 13 steps the top railing wraps around to length of hallway. I would like the balisters to be painted white and part of the stairs to be painted white.

Looking for cost at this time.

There are many factors that apply to pricing a new handrail.

1. What kind of wood are you wanting to use

2. Whats kind of details do you want

3. Are the stairs structurally sound

A new railing set can look beautiful when done right, and provide safety, and a finished look to any set of stairs for years to come.

Typically speaking, it could cost between $3,000 and $10,000 for a new set of hand railings.

Remember that your old steel railings are worth money as well, whether you sell them privately, or just take them to a recycler, This can help pay for the total bill.

Hope this helps.

It would cost about $75 to $95 a linear foot for basic handrail profiles and colonial spindles, this varies with different woods, intricacies of spindles and handrail.

For a project like this I would say to budget around $5000.00, there's many different variables we have to take into consideration in order to provide an accurate number (painting is definitely a cheaper solution).
