I recently hired a contractor who turned out to be poor at finishing his job properly. He wouldn't listen to complaints along the way. I think the main problem was that the workers he brought in and left alone obviously didn't know what they were doing.
What is it going to cost to fix the following issues? (rough estimate).
1. Drop and bury a sewage line + (hot/cold water pipe). 8 feet are exposed. Probably another 4-6 feet inside the main building that would need to be lowered as well. The guy already cut the concrete but he was too lazy to dig deeper i guess?
2. Rip off cheap fake exterior paneling and replace with wood siding similar to original. Probably about 8 x 8 feet area (large window + door were re-positioned so the space those objects used to occupy needs paneling)
3. Open up the wall in the kitchen to access the shower piping. Switch the hot and cold plumbing so that the single handle shower starts with cold water and turns to hot with further turning. (currently its hot water first, which is a safety hazard).
I can only include one photo so I added the exposed sewage pipe
There are actually more issues than this but I just wanted to post the larger items.
Depending where you are the cost will vary. Water pipes have to be buried a minimum of 4`. I would suggest you call in a qualified Contractor and a Plumber. A sewer line should also be buried the same depth. I would make sure there is a proper header over your window.
I hope this helps

Wow I am really not sure who that contractor is trying to fool with that. Tim is 100% Correct here and you should get a contractor you trust to look at the job in depth to see if everything else is ok. I hope this guy did not do any Electrical for you.
When plumbing is done it should look like picture below. Not Aboveground
Good luck

Need to bring in someone to view very hard to give prices without seeing ways to do the work.
The shower problem should be quite easy as sounds like the cartrige was put in upside down and should be a simple fix. Any plumber would take 10 min. To put right without removing the wall just done from the shower side usually an allen wrench and screw driver.
I would suggest a good area plumber would be a great place to start as could handle most of your issues.
Hello, and I am sorry that you had such a horrible experience with your previous contractor.
The problems you are describing should have been caught by the plumbing inspector (regarding the plumbing issues). The exterior finish depending on what kind of finish you are going for could be as inexpensive as $400.00-to $1,500.00 for approx 64 sqft of siding.
As for the plumbing issues, I would recomend you have it inspected by an inspector then give a copy of the deficiencies to the plumber that did the work and get him to do it right. If this is not an option find another plumber with references and after the repairs are done you can take legal action against the plumber who did the work in the first place.
Approx cost to fix the following issues - >rough estimate. (Please Note: An ON-site inspection is required to confirm all details and prices.
1. Drop and bury a sewage line + (hot/cold water pipe). 8 feet are exposed. Probably another 4-6 feet inside the main building that would need to be lowered as well.
Cost per metre $750.00 plus costs to wrap pipes and complete connections add another etc. $250. per metre.
2. Rip off cheap fake exterior paneling and replace with wood siding similar to original. Probably about 8 x 8 feet area (large window + door were re-positioned so the space those objects used to occupy needs paneling).
Cost dependent on type and quality of paneling and finishing approx. $ 1300.
3. Open up the wall in the kitchen to access the shower piping. Switch the hot and cold plumbing so that the single handle shower starts with cold water and turns to hot with further turning. (currently its hot water first, which is a safety hazard).
Note: If it's only an improperly installed cartridge, $100.00
All the best,
Norm
To price a job like this is hard to price with seeing is very hard; sorry.
Sorry to hear about your dilemma.
Where did you find this 'contractor' and hope you didn't pay the total bill (ouch)?!
As with any screw-up from other 'Contractors', a site visit would indeed be required to give you a proper quote to repair the items you described and inspect the rest of the work. Obviously, permits were not taken out??
Best of luck and always ask questions when in doubt and do not let work proceed until you are satisfied with the answers you are given. You have control over the work and above all, make sure your new Contractor is easy to talk to and LISTENS to your concerns! And never pay 100% until you are completely satisfied with the completed job and everything passes inspections.
Take care.
I'd have to say anywhere from $6000+. Very hard to estimate without seeing.
Hi H,
Sorry to hear about you troubles. My guestimate is 1.5 to 2 times what it cost to do it wrong originally. If this is what your contractor left visible, imagine what he left hidden!.
Good luck with this one!
