I am looking at updating my insurance policy for my duplex.
They have a flooding damage repair cost of $25,000 in the policy. So would this be enough to repair a finished basement that is around 600 sq ft if there was flooding or water damage? This would for a basement with finished painted walls and ceiling and carpet. There is no bathroom in the basement, as this is a half duplex with basement square footage around 600 sq ft. Would $25000 cover repairs for ripping out flooring and drywall, other repairs associated with water damage, and replacing drywall, refinishing, and new flooring?
Thanks,
Glen
Hello
You should be able to cover the costs of repairs based on your description.
It is always prudent to check hands on the entire area in detail to evaluate the extent of damage and if other things may have to be replaced as well such as part of the insulation ,framing etc.
Feel free to contact me

I'll be happy to come by to discuss further.

Thank you
Yes! That seems a healthy budget for such repair based on what you mentioned.
$25k is more than enough to replace drywall, flooring and repainting. Determining the cause of the flooding, and what might be needed to prevent in the future might affect the overall cost however.
Hi Glenn, yes $25,000 would be sufficient to repair a standard 600 square foot basement from flooding damage. Without seeing the exact damage it's hard to get an exact number on it. I recommend you call one of your local trusted Pro contractors to give you a free quote. Wish you the best. Jeff
