We are looking into building a soundproof recording studio in the basement. The space is approximately 17 feet by 11 feet and 8 foot ceilings. I need to build walls and everything. As of right now it is just an open space. I am also curious as to what I will need for this project.

Could you please give me an idea of the materials I will need and the associated costs?

Thank you so much!!

The materials needed for this kind of project are as follows:

framing 2x4 (bluwood recommended)

insulation (walls and ceiling) (roxul safe n' sound)

genie clips and sound bar (reduces transfer of sound through wall)

drywall/taping/priming

The costs associated with a project like this approximate:

framing $25/ lin. ft

insulation: $2.50/ sq.ft

sound proofing: $3/clip and $5/sound bar + labour

drywall: $2/ sq.ft
