Can you please help me with an average cost that a contractor will quote to cut a basement cement to open up to install a windown + window well as a fire escape route in a basement please.

Cost should include labor and material to complete the job.

Hi Dhana

The fire escape size should be 42 x 24 if the window sashes are slide and lift out and only the frame remain in the wall if its a slide and tilt you need 46" wide. The well needs to be lower then the bottom of the window by at least 3" (better 4" to 6") and gravel on top. A drain pipe should be inserted to weeping tile or 3" below it.

The whole thing in the Toronto area is $2400 to $2700.

Hope this helps

Hi Dhane

I forgot to say that you need a lintel on top.

Sorry
