Deck repair

Hi,

What's the rough estimate on fixing our deck?

It has a patio cover and is over a 1 car garage. It's cracked and splitting in certain areas and has already started to damage a little bit of our garage roof (water stain/black mold?)

And how long would a project like this take?

Thanks!

Would depend on size and if it's rotted and moldy then you would most likey save yourself a head ache to just replace it.

Good chance you will need a full plywood replacement assuming a new vinyl or fiberglass surface is required.

Selective demo of old plywood and new plywood install is one week. New membrane is a 1-2 day job (depending on sf) but there could be a time gap between the new plywood and new membrane install. (Busy season).

All in all, 1 month would be enough.

Rough estimate is $6k-$8k (Railing replacment?, structural damage?, drywall repair?).

That's a good idea...we thought of going that route too...what do you figure that would cost?

Railing cost can vary considerably depending on whether there is a cedar, pressure treated, or an aluminium/glass combo railing wanted.

Cost really depends on the railing type and lineal footage. A side mounted railing is recommended as there wouldn't be a need to waterproof around the railing posts.

could be between 10000 and 50000 depending on the amount of mold and extent of damage and size of garage. Also it could take between 5 and 30 days. You should attach some photos so that I can give you a better idea of what you are dealing with as far a mold and structural damage.

Your deck needs to be inspected first to check the damage caused. The cost and time required for repairing would depend on the size of the deck and how much it has been damaged. Based on your description of the problem I think it would take roughly around 25-30 days. If it is rotted and cracked to a great extent then you will need to replace the deck entirely.
