Drywall and Painters Salary rates in Quebec

We don't count the hourly rate when getting quotes. We get a drywall quote installed and finished for painting. If the crew is good and is quick at the same time, the dollars made can be quite good. However, at this point the age doees not make the difference. If the job is good, then the age is not to be considered.

I don't know what the workforce is like there, but a good drywall job here is between $1.75 and $2.00 per Sq ft applied, finished and including all materials.

as for the painter, it depends on windows and doors, and trim. Commercial will most likely be simpler tht reidential as there is not the amount of trim to consider. Keep in mind that most commercial jobs are done with bottom of the line paint. don't get fooled by the price difference, for good quality paint will go a lot further, and be more scrubbable. I personally put CIL series 9490 eggshell latex (approx 130/18.9L: available only at Dulux paint centres: not Home Depot.) on all of our houses. I sold this product for 10 years and it is excellent. It is also one of the few products that can be applied with a 2 coat finish, and does not require a primer coat. It is heavy based and does not penetrate the drywall as other paints do. If you have trim paint it works the same. cheaper paints will require more coats for coverage. We put on top line Benjamin Moore at $53.00 per gal cost. thsi requires one less coat and is durable and washable. Painters will try to influence you, but the cost of materials in a quote ranges from 17 to 22 % of the entire quote.

Make sure that you specify the paint, and pay for only two coats if you choose to go that way. You can also opt to supply the paint for the project. CIL 9490 is rated at 600 sq ft per gallon. Generally, a 1700 sq ft home with extensive mouldings will take 3 gallons of trim paint.

I have recently found out that the 40$ I was talking about included social benefits which in Quebec beleive it or not - are 114% of the actual salary. OUCH.
