Was wondering how much it would cost in the ballpark to do the following:
1. Remove tile, laminate, and carpet from two floors of the house (house is 1600 sqf overall, so two floors should be about 1/3 of the house, if I calculate it right)
2. Reinforce the floors (squeaky currently and moving under weight)
3. Lay down hardwood, laminate, or cork floors (still undecided on the product, will depend on the cost and functionality).
Hi Alex,
Of course it varied from laminate to hardwood floors. We could say something about $6 - $10/sqft
Thanks,
Mike
I would have to see the space, do measurements, etc but I would say anywhere from $1200 to $2000 plus materials.
Here are the installation costs:
This includes screwing down the floors to remove the squeeks.
Good quality hardwood installation will run about 4.00 per square foot.
Laminate installation will run about 2.80 to 3.20 per square foot.
You hardwood or laminate and underlay are seperate of course.
Remember you will have baseboard and trim work to finish off after the flooring installation.
I have not included the cost for removing the carpeting or ceramic tiles. The carpet removal is quick, but the ceramic removal is going to cost you. If the ceramic was properly installed you will have mesh screwed to the subfloor ander the tile. The this and all the adhesives and grout must be scraped off and the floor cleaned. I would have to see the project to quote it.
Hi Alex,
I would never give an estimate without first seeing the home. There are just too many variables that can affect how I would price a job. I would contact a few local installers and have them come out and give you an estimate or better yet, a quote. Estimates and quotes are usually free anyhow.
