Is My Basement Waterproofing Quote Reasonable?

I got $175 per linear foot to do exterior waterproofing.

The company is a well known local company that has been in business for about 20 yrs. They have liability insurance up to 5 million and 25 yr warranty.

The quote includes waterproofing along half of the front of the house where concrete is sinking and along the right side of the house until after the second window wells.

Quote includes:

12' of excavation at front of house

30' of excavation along right side of house (full length if 40').

And:

-patio stones removal, breaking and removal of all concrete walkways

-waterproofing system with machine dog to footings

-clean wall/repair cracks

-waterproof with liquid rubber/rubber membrane

-install ai gap membrane delta MS

-install new 4" filter cloth weeping tiles with gravel

-reinstall 2 window wells with drain

-back fill to rough grade

Total $7,425 plus HST

Not including:

-high pressure weeping tile flush

-checking if the weeping tile for the other side of the house is problematic or not

I would go with this company because they seem very professional but I've gotten other quotes in the $120 areas. But again these other companies are smaller companies with just 2-3 guys doing it themselves...

I'm not sure that the more expensive company is the best way to go because even if my basement leaked again, i have to go through litigation to get monies and they have all kinds of clause in the back of the quote where it's not covered

Help!

is my basement waterproofing quote reasonable?

Hello Ben,

the more expensive company is doing a top notch job. I would say as long as the less expensive companies are using the same high end materials and can provide the same guaranty you could use them.

I know we typicaly charge about $120 to $140 per lnft and we only use high end materials.

I hope this helps.

Mike

Yes, that's a good price. It's a lot of work and time consuming task so I know its a good price. I do the same type of work.

Yeah, it's a decent deal for that. It's a lot of work and a job that takes time, so I know it's a fair deal.
