I need to replace three hardwired smoke detectors and I received a quote of $350 to replace them. I will provide the alarms. Does this seem high?
Hello Andrea
if you are provide smoke detector and already have wire and only need to change , yes is high
Hi there, most electricians have a minimum charge for something small like this. The price seems fair but you can definitely have it done for less if you find someone local. These are very important devices and you must make sure that they are installed correctly for safety reasons. I would not just hire a handyman. For a job like this you would be looking at between 250-450. Hope this helps
depending on your location, yes and no. If you live in the middle of no where, and have 16' ceilings, no. Downtown Toronto, no. Suburbs with 8' ceilings, yes it is high. Normal call out could be $150-$250. Senior or low income housing, might be $100.
I agree, there would need to be a minimum charge and they contractor may be flat rating the job vice actually coming out and seeing the job.
Cheers
