I want to replace my bathroom door, which is 34" x 80" RH swing with a metal frame, with a 24" by 80" door with a LH swing. I know this means that the entry to the bathroom will have to be built out in addition to replacing the door.
Could someone please tell me how much something like this would cost in materials, labour and time?
I'm saying $2-300 bucks plus the price of the door you choose. You figure 10" of wall to be built back you need a couple studs, one sheet of drywall, taping, paint, and 20" of baseboard. This is according to my estimating.
For a wood frame (not steel) refit. Standard pricing would go like this + or - do to location.
Part hr is in decimal of time
Remove door and frame .75hr
Re frame opening, drywall and floor cut backs 1.5hr
Install door trim lock-set and baseboard 1.75hr
Tape and paint 2 trips 3.5hr
Disposal at market
Total time 8hr's plus travel, - Hr rate unknown- reasonable guess for not seeing the job
You need 1 sheet drywall- 4 studs- 24" pre-hunge door- paint enough for complete wall in hall and Bathroom + trim if different - baseboard, hall length and bath- 5 pieces of door trim to suit.- 1 bag sheet Rock 20 ---- average $20 misc. material charge.
Hope this helps.
